hello all,

purchased abs today, hence 'hello all' , and just tried it on a local blog.
interesting part of the tool is, that it controls one or more blogs from the 'comfort of the desktop', which is of course superior to blog admin.

in general easy to use and does the job easy and fast .. posted scheduled in local install.

BUT

i am afraid, that the possibilities are still a bit limited.

first impressions and suggestions:

1
if i add content, say from amazon, i can configure the thing, and get a tree entry 'amazon products' on finish.
then, i add another amazon entity -- say other topic and other category -- and get another entry 'amazon products' for this.

now, if i try to edit the settings for that, the dialogs to BOTH entities show the same data (seems to be always key 1, category 1).
it is basically impossible to edit this.

i checked myblogs.txt and data is stored correctly there. hence it looks like an ui issue.

i suggest correction, as it would be useful to add multiple streams to different topic to different categories

it would be great, if one could edit the title 'amazon products' on creation to make it clear, what it is. yeah, i saw the name is used as directory name, and direct edit leads to 'directory not found'.

annoying to edit, but seems to work.

2
please please, pretty please .. make the amazon thing configurable.
it fetches data from amazon.com, but i am german and would prefer to use amazon.de on some of my sites.

so, please make the country (or affiliate program) configurable. in addition, the amazon categories NEED to be editable.

works as designed, but quite useless for me.

please provide more details to the post template. link and price are fine, but especially the ASIN should be there.

3
clickbank works out of the box, BUT could you please provide more details to the template? i think of the vendor id.
xxxx.vendor.* is ok, but i prefer to cloak the thing (a little bit) with my redirector.
for this, i would need the id. (ok, i think one could push the link through a shortcode to get the result, but i would prefer to generate it correctly right away)

works, as is, but annoying to edit.

---

i see, that the data directory contains all post info. and xmls.

great!

i have not tried to exit abs, edit the xml, and then issue the post.

in best case, it would post my modifications. or do i need to edit the generated texts?

will see, but it looks, that one can process the posts before they are submitted.
this is great.

---

any chance to get a setting, were i could add program(s) to be executed after feed has been updated, or prior post?

---

this way, one could apply changes to the data as one needs fit, and would open all possibilities.
tag generation, text or url changes,...

would reduce manual editing

---

4
finally, i tested to import a feed. works perfectly, well done!
also this was imported to another blog driven by the same instance. again perfect.

by blog admins scheduling works like a charm. gives me the possibilities i created a plugin for. hence all i need.

side note: due to the type of keywords (and therefore titles), tag determination on amazon was a mess in the test. it worked pretty well on this import. however, unfortunately some of the more important tags where also ignored.

any chance that you provide setting, i.e.
- words to exclude
- words to include (in any case) if present in title (i.e. C)
- and/some numbers like min length, max length, maximum number of tags...

conclusion.

there are still things to be tested, but after the first test, this tool seems to be nice and useful.

however, some parts could benefit from higher flexibility.

please consider enhancing some configs to make it -- especially amazon -- work out of the box for users prefering local amazons.
corrected ui support for multiple contents of same type, and a little more data to the post templates, will make editing easier.

thanks and regards,
thomas.

Thomas, thanks a lot for your comments on my software.

At the moment you can have just one CB/Amazon/eZine feed per blog. I made it this way because, searching for shoes will result the same products when searched with a shoe brand name or at least, shoes would bring in more stuff for you. But later found that my users need to categorize each brand or a sub-niche differently so I do have plans to change this in future versions.

Cloaking the links, which method you would like to cloak the links basically? I can use PHP coding but that would require a setup like FTP and sorts which might get a lot confusing for most.

The data folder has txt files in XML format which serve as index to all your blogs, feeds and articles. Every individual article is then stored on separate text files usually with the title as file name and the mappings are done in the XML formatted files. If you directly open and edit the article files prior to posting, of course the changes get applied.

I will definitely considering on enhancing all the features including the tagging as you suggested. Look out for my future updates.

Glad you like my software anyway

Regards,
Carty..

hello carty,

thanks for your reply.

to the cloaking: i created a simple tool on a server of mine.
it uses

domain.xx/likes/code
domain.xx/recommeds/code
domain.xx/go/to/code

and such, BUT i have some predefined shortcuts like
domain.xx/go/123/code

here 123 identifies the type of code coming and the code is used on the service. (i currently hard code this...)
for example, it could mean 123 is clickbank product name coming, code is the the id itself, hence
domain.xx/go/123/whatever
would be a redirection to clickbank product 'whatever' using my clickbank aff id.

therefore it would be nice to get easily the relevant ids. i.e. if feed source is clickbank, the ids could be provided to and directly used in the template. asins from amazon as well.

as said, i know, they could be extracted from the links provided to template, but this way use would be trivial and i feel, this data is alreadyavailable to abs during extraction.

thanks and regards,
thomas.

So basically in the template you want me to split the link and allow tags for just the vendor id or asins separately to solve your problem.
