Dave's Journey to $1 Per Day, Per Blog.. 8 Years ago Karma: 0
Hello Everyone,

Thought it would be fun to create a thread documenting my success and failure on the road to $1 per day per blog. Didn't see a category for it, might be something to start moderators? Beginning January 2011 my goal is to have 60 fully functioning monetized blogs by the end of December 2011. The breakdown: 60 blogs / 12 = 5 blogs per month, 1.25 blogs per week - rounding it down to 1 blog per wk will result in 48 blogs by December 2011.

To some this may seem a little short sided - but time is a big factor for me as I'm sure it is with many. Will I reach my goal? My intention is to exceed this goal - if I've learned anything about goals, setting smaller goals with reasonable expectations is a lot easier to achieve than the frustration of failure if it's not done.

The most important factor, or hindrance, is time - I don't have much of it and since I'm self employed as an independent contractor, supporting my family is top priority while I'm making the transition to working full time online. Creating blogs of this scale also requires time to promote.

With that said, achieving my goal leaves roughly 2 to 3 hours of focused work per day. I sometimes won't be able to work my goal due to the sheer amount of hours I work (sometimes 22 hours at a clip) to support my family.

Startup..

I opted for one 'generalized' domain that will support unlimited sub-domains (keyword/niche focused). Doing this serves two purposes: 1) limits expense, and 2) creates a test bed for niches - once I find a niche that's turning a profit, I can then scale and expand. They will be WP blogs, much more flexible - not interested in BloggerBlogs cuz I personally don't like the idea of the 900 lb gorilla having that much control over my destiny. So my initial expense will be hosting and one domain name.

For the balance of 2010 I'm in the last stages of completing a house project that will give me the privacy I need to do focused work. Also plan on researching niches and creating a list of candidates that will kickoff my journey in January 2011.

Tools..

I've acquired quite a toolbox of software's to help automate certain functions of the daily process - first and foremost, ABS. I have some other tools for research, promotion and tracking.

Promotion..

I'm starting with 3 promotion techniques - all free - the downside of free is time!! Don't have a lot of it so starting with just 3 techniques initially will fit my promotion strategy - I can always scale from there, time permitting.

Tracking..

I track everything, from blogs to merchants to keywords. Big proponent of spreadsheets and will create a few for tracking these elements. I'm using a self hosted software called Piwik (GA alternative) to track traffic, visitors, and search terms.

I also thought it would be cool to create a video at the end of each week, again time permitting, summarizing and sharing the weeks events. So there you have it - I look forward to sharing this journey with everyone here because it allows a fresh pair of eyes and perspective to the process, helping find some holes that I may not see or realize and starting a dialogue for tips and tricks that everyone can benefit from. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome, cheers..

I wish you all the success in the world! I will follow your journey very closely and share my experiences with you , if you allow me to do so. I am also planning to have 50 fully operative blogs at the end of june2011.
Will let you know.

Good luck!

Good luck Dave! I'm also about to start creating blogs on a regular basis and gathering niches, keywords etc. at the moment.
May I ask you what ways of promoting you're thinking of? Thought of automated pinging, social network- and article submission but unfortunately my English isn’t good enough for the last one.
Also I thought of implementing youtube videos (automated) but I'm not sure if that would help.

Thanks Maro! The three promotion methods I'm starting with are article marketing, social and blogging - all free and as I mentioned earilier the downside to free is time...

Update December 10, 2010.. 8 Years ago Karma: 0
After working 14.5 hours yesterday, decided to start researching and found 2 potential niches. Still doing some background but at first glance they seem to have some potential...
